In 1893 I actually attended the World Fair. I actually did a few things which shouldn't be mentioned- [ Outrageous. Dangerous. Scandalous. Typical Helena fare ] -but I did begin plans that involved working with Nikola Tesla. [ Those ray guns? Half her ] And a few others.

There haven't been many times where I've wished to revisit my own history. [ Not after that time where she did so but failed to alter anything ] But this is one of those few occasions. I just hope that it holds up to par. [ Because she has very fond memories of this moment ]

( spam: at the world fair )
[ Helena has an escort for the start of this affair, or really it could be said that she was the one doing the escorting. She's the expert here, familiar with both the time and the location, and she was happy to be here, to see it all again and even show off what she knew (both about the time and the science).

She'd started the day by shopping with Nathan. She had a dress already from the mirror barge, from what she'd awoken with in her cabin during those few days, but she'd wanted something else - something fresh, and without any memories attached to it. That and she'd gotten Nathan a hat.

They're at the science fair now, which was at Helena's request. It had been a while since she'd thought about this place, or time, or even indulged in anything quite like this. She was thrilled, seeing everything that she'd seen before, and things that she'd not given herself the opportunity to also. Anyone that comes to say hello to her might just find themselves being thrown into details of science, and wonderment ]

[ ooc: so whilst Nathan is going to be with Helena, escorting and watching her, he's not going to be a direct tail all the time (right, Lynn?) as he's going to give her some space to explore and enjoy and show that he trusts her so don't worry about him! ]

How much of this is worth it? To either get what you want or to leave here. [ Because if people say yes, that it is worth it, then maybe that backs up what she thinks. That people everywhere are just as depraved and cruel as the ones she tried to kill - to stop ] If you had a choice would you endure it, to justify what this claims, or would you stop it? [ Tell her that she's wrong, that not everyone agrees with this. Iris claimed to, because it worked, but it also wasn't right regardless. And that's her problem. Or at least that's what she's putting as the front of her problem ]

You said that something would happen, that my memories would be shared. [ This wasn't quite that, but more a re-writing of them. A life that wasn't hers, and a life where she was happy, unknowing of all the pain that she'd felt, and the anger that she had. A life she would happily have kept if she didn't know this. But she does, and she's angry for it ] What would you call this, then? [ And she is interested in knowing, hate aside ]

[ Helena has found herself in the garden. She hadn't thought to go there, or thought that there would be one, but she's drawn in at the sight of it. It almost calls to her, to try and clear her head as looking out over the docks did to the Helena of the world they'd just been in. She doesn't understand it, and she hates it truthfully. Hates that it could happen, that it did, but mostly Helena is angry about the life that she had, that she knows about it.

She'd been happy, almost blissful. Christina hadn't existed in that life, but Helena also hadn't been the same H.G. Wells of her past. There were similarities, things of herself that she knew, but her life was vastly different - she'd moved to Oxford whilst Charles had stayed in Kent, living separate lives. And she'd loved, truly.

It's knowing about this that brings Helena the most anger, or perhaps pain. She can remember being that happy once, if a long time ago, and it's the memories that bring her the pain. Memories that she's trying to push down, to bury away. They can't help her, but they can fuel her, as they're fueling her anger now. It's contained, and mostly so that she can see without the emotion of her past (happiness, sadness, grief) clouding over her. If anything she could find herself a little more determined.

Whilst the garden might have somewhat of a calming effect normally (and may even for Helena were she not so angry), she's using it as she used the water of the docks before. She's there to think ]

Well. [ The woman on the video looks a little irritated, and still a little injured - the bandage trying to keep her shoulder immobile was visible through the fabric of her shirt, and her discomfort was evident in her expression ] I'm not certain that I can say much for this place, or the people here. [ Warden or inmate. She's spoken to both, and she doesn't have a good impression of either side ] Though I'm still wondering whether it meets my expectations.

[ Helena's on level five, in the library. She'd walked a while, looking around a little before finding the library. She'd been close to avoiding it, not wanting to find something that could be a comfort to her, but she'd been pushing herself a little too much (too much walking lead to jolting her shoulder) ]

I've been told that for a chance I need to be redeemed. [ The idea still makes her laugh. For one, who was he to claim that she needed to be redeemed? What did he know? ] I'd be more interested in hearing what else there was. I have no interest in dying. [ Because she would if she left here, if not immediately then someone may try again.

Helena's going to sit in the library for a little while, at first alone and resting, and then look towards the books. If someone can't give her an answer then maybe she can find something herself ]

[ They'd made it there, although Helena didn't quite know what had happened since - she'd barely made it on her own two feet. They'd seen to her, she knew that - she felt far better than she had when she arrived, and that was one thing. Although she still didn't have her answers. From what Helena could see it was an infirmary, although it certainly didn't look anything out of the ordinary (at least what she could see from her bed). What was unusual was the lack of restraint she might have expected, at least from her perspective that this was all ran by the regents. That just added to what seemed strange - her being here, something that Zack had said, and now this. But the one was thing that Helena knew, and that was that she was going to get her answers ]

Hello?

[ For however Helena felt, at least until she saw someone that could change it, she could play the victim: the unknowing and unaware. She'd managed to fool a lot of people before, and unless someone was a lot more informed than her (or the regents or Artie was there) she would keep it up for as long as she needed to ]

Is anyone there?
